I had a wonderful 8 days in the Gypsy Trailer perched on the edge of laid back Lajares. The setting is simply magnificent; more spiritual than the pictures show, with the soft wind animating the whole landscape and the distant volcano keeping watch. It is such a peaceful spot, and the trailer has everything you need for a completely relaxing time. The bed is so comfortable and the shower just fab! The sunlight hits the verandah in the mornings, such a perfect spot to sit and read. Jean-Marc was very welcoming and left me in peace during my visit. The island is beyond beautiful; I hired a small 4x4 and did a lot of exploring. I already miss the landscape! And the gentle spirit of the resident dogs! they also made me feel so welcome! If it's peace, tranquility and nature you are looking for in a holiday then look no further! Thank you Jean-Marc!

Merci Jean Marc !

Jean Marc's "trailer" is an outstanding accommodation in laid-back Lajares. It is clean, super cozy and designed with love. It offers plenty of space for two persons, a lot of privacy (the only neighbours are the rabbits of the desert), a kitchen for self-catering and a wind-protected sun terrace. Definitely the first choice for surfers, couples and surfing couples :-) .

This eco-trailer is beautiful. It's very well furnished with fabulous attention to detail. I would highly recommend a stay here, particularly if you're looking for something out of the ordinary, something different. The trailer is very well supplied with kitchen utensils, there's even joy of joys a filter coffee machine! I'd no problems with the wi-fi here either. The bed is very comfortable. There are two things about this place that while they definitely wouldn't put me off staying again, fact I'd love to go back, I would like to have known at the time of booking. The first is that you'll have to park your car about 50 metres away and walk down a rough track to reach the trailer. This would be absolutely no problem, not an issue to any able bodied person but for anyone a bit infirm or unsteady on their feet, it would probably be good to know about this in advance. There is a mosquito net fitted to prevent mosquitoes from entering the sleeping area. When I arrived in Fuerteventura almost 3 weeks prior to arriving at this eco-lodge I asked my 1st host about mosquitoes as I'm highly sensitive to them. She assured me that Fuerteventura is too dry to have a problem with mosquitoes. However I discovered after my first night in the eco-trailer that I'd been quite badly bitten and noticed that close by there is a hollow piece of ground in which is a large palm tree grows so I guess as there's enough water there for that to grow it might be somewhere that's more inviting to the mosquitoes. Being wise to this I secured the net properly on my second night and didn't have a problem after that. There was nothing that anyone could do about this, it's just nature doing it's thing! So next time I'll secure the net on the first night. For me, I see the point of reviews as being more than just reviewing the accommodation, hosts etc. They're also a way to offer tips from one's own experience to help fellow travellers better enjoy the place they're going to stay in. Jean Marc texted a couple of times while I was there and it was nice to know that he was on the end of the phone if needed. There was no intrusion at all from anyone, just so much peace and quiet! I got to thinking on the day before I left, "I could live in a place like this"! It is truly unique, very special.
